Kids 4 Christ
Kids 4 Christ is The River Community Church’s children’s ministry for pre-schooler through to Grade 8. It is offered during our 10:30am Sunday morning service.
What We Believe About Children's Ministry
* Children hold a very special place in God's kingdom. We believe the single most essential aspect of a child's life is a relationship with Jesus. By making weekly worship a family priority, you impart to children the vital importance of orienting their lives around Jesus and among a community of people who love Him. Worship is not just another "thing to do;" it is an essential discipline for you and your family.
* At The River, we believe that teaching kids about faith, values, scripture and life is critical to preparing them for a blessed and fulfilling life. We also believe that both parents and church play a large part in this endeavour. As such, the purpose of Kids 4 Christ is to partner with parents in raising kids to know and love the Lord Jesus Christ and to live a productive life as one of his followers.
* Kids 4 Christ believes that the primary place where faith is taught and caught is the home and that parents are their children's primary disciplers. We are thus committed to equipping parents to make their homes a place where faith is nurtured and lived out and where children make a lasting commitment to love and serve Jesus.
* We believe that kids and parents learn best in an atmosphere of fun, music, creativity and joy. You are never too young or too old to be a Kid of the Kingdom! For this reason, our Kids 4 Christ program includes stories, dramas, songs, crafts, puppets and lots more.
*Kids 4 Christ is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for every child that is a part of our ministry. We are therefore committed to living out the policies outlined in The River Community Church's "Plan to Protect".
Biblical Foundation
What we do and how we do it in our Kids 4 Christ ministry is shaped by the following verse:
Deuteronomy 6:5-7 (NLT): And you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, all your soul, and all your strength. And you must commit yourselves wholeheartedly to these commands that I am giving you today. Repeat them again and again to your children. Talk about them when you are at home and when you are on the road, when you are going to bed and when you are getting up.
Our Leadership Team
Kids 4 Christ Leadership Team is made up of devoted and creative volunteers who have a passion for children ministry. The team is led by Christine Mayovsky, The River's Children Ministry Director. If you have any questions or would like to join our team, contact Christine at christine@rivercommunity.ca.
Important Information about Kids 4 Christ
Kids 4 Christ features a bi-weekly e-newsletter for parents to keep them informed as to what's happening in the Kid 4 Christ program. To sign up for the newsletter, please contact Christine at christine@rivercommunity.ca
Kids 4 Christ is divided into the following three groups:
(Pre-school and Kindergarten)
(Gr 1-3)
(Grades 4-5)
Jr. High's
(Grades 6-8)
Where to go: Your children will be dismissed through the southwest doors of the gym to meet in the library of LIllian Osborne high school.
When: From the time children are dismissed (about half way through the service) until its conclusion. During this time the children will experience worship in a large group setting including an energetic time of music and praise. Because we encourage stewardship with the children, each week we will collect a small offering for a particular cause. If possible, please ensure that your child has an offering to bring each Sunday morning. After our BIG group time, children are then dismissed into small groups for a more interactive and focused learning experience which includes Bible stories and scriptures relevant to the topic we are focusing on. Often, the small group time will also include a craft that children are encourage to take home.

VBS Planning Meeting The River Community Church DATE: Sunday April 22/12 TIME: 3-4pm LOCATION: The Ministry Centre
We are hoping to host another Vacation Bible School this July but in order to be successful we need your help. Last year we had an incredible time leading such a wonderful group of kids. We hope we can offer this again to our families at The River and to our neighbourhood near the Ministry Centre. If you are able to help with preparations prior to VBS or help during VBS as a leader we would love to work with you.
Come and learn more at our meeting. Every little bit helps.
