RIVERS OF HOPE: What we do

The River Community Church as an organization and as individual members supports many projects locally, nationally and internationally.  It is our HOPE that God's creation will be restored.

Local Projects

Serving Lunch at Jasper Place Health and Wellness Centre

One Thursday a month a group of people serve lunch to families and individuals at the JPHAWC.

Emergency Fund for Families

The River Community Church manages a small fund to support families in crisis.  This may include purchasing medicine or food, paying for transportation or emergency child care.

Reel Change Film Festival

In the spring the River Community Church hosts a 3-evening film festival to raise awareness about social justice topics.  A guest speaker is invited each evening to discuss issues raised during the film and answer questions.

South West Interfaith Group

The South West Interfaith group is a network of churches, city staff, community  agencies who are working to make Edmonton a great place to live for everyone.   We meet on the first Friday of every second month.  Kathy Dempsey-Glegloff (our parish nurse) represents The River Community Church in this group.  For more information or ideas of how to become involved, please contact Kathy at home at 780-435-2243 or on her cell 780-983-3826 or by email:  kathy@rivercommunity.ca

Operation Manna

For more than 35 years, Operation Manna (OM) has provided funding and consultation in support of local community ministries. It provides funds and services to churches and organizations that are active in sustainable community development. It also serves as a link between diaconates, churches and local service opportunities.  The River Community Church supports Operation Manna by donating funds to support the various ministries.

Local Operation Manna Projects include:

Families Living Well Society

Families Living Well Society provides safe and accepting programs facilitating resource-building, friendships and community connection for single-parent families.
